President and CEO Report

2010 heralded a significant new chapter in the story of Gymnastics in Australia

Catherine Clark Chief Executive Officer Ken Williamson President The key highlights in 2010 were the outstanding performances at the Delhi Commonwealth Games and Lauren Mitchell becoming our first Women’s Artistic World Champion. GA successfully secured a record increase of $1.2 million per annum in new funding. There was a farewell to our CEO of 12 years, Jane Allen, and a welcoming of Catherine Clark as the new CEO.

High Performance In 2010, there were two pinnacle benchmark events for our high performance gymnasts – the Delhi Commonwealth Games and the Rotterdam World Championships. The Men’s and Women’s Artistic and Rhythmic teams brought home a tremendous medal haul winning 21 medals in total at the Delhi Games, including 12 Gold medals. This was also a special achievement as it is the first time Australia has won all three team gold medals. At World Championships, Lauren Mitchell took Gold on the Floor, Prashanth Sellathurai won bronze on Pommel and Naazmi Johnston achieved the highest ever placing for an Australian Rhythmic gymnast finishing 30th overall. Both Men’s and Women’s Artistic teams are successfully through to the next round of the Olympic qualification process. This year Kieran Gorman added another significant achievement to his record in Aerobics. He was ranked number one in the World as he continued to deliver excellent results throughout 2010.

These fantastic high performance results would not be possible without the great work of our coaches and the partnerships between GA, the Australian Sports Commission, the Australian Institute of Sport, the Australian Olympic Committee, the Australian Commonwealth Games Association and the five State Institutes – Queensland Academy of Sport (Men & Women), NSW Institute of Sport (Men), Victorian Institute of Sport (Women), SA Institute of Sport (Men & Trampoline), WA Institute of Sport (Women).

These partnerships have been reinforced through GA’s move to a fully decentralised high performance program and the investment boost to GA’s Institutes’ network. From 2011, GA will double existing funding to State Institutes, in addition to providing a new stream of performance funding which recognises those State programs which are delivering the targeted results for the national program.

Capability and Infrastructure GA has also invested in building closer working relationships within the organisation, specifically with our State Association Members. GA recognises the crucial role that alignment and integration between the state and national levels plays in most efficiently utilising government funding and delivering value to members at the grassroots. High Performance and Participation funding submissions and associated planning have involved heavy consultation. Additionally, in 2010, GA launched a review of Cheerleading; the review will analyse governance, delivery and growth challenges with a view to developing a revised model which best caters for the growth and development of cheerleading in Australia. This is a major project and will be completed in late 2011. Another major milestone was the completion of the first phase of the G-Educate project. The delivery of judging courses across the country represents a massive achievement in the redevelopment and repackaging of our education framework for judges. Thank you to everyone within the gymnastics community who has contributed to this major piece of work. Education and training are part of core business and GA continues to make a large commitment to developing attractive education pathways for the gymnastics community. Realistically, within resource levels, the road to a sustainable, high quality and modern education framework lies in taking a whole-of-sport approach. Such an approach will also let us gain full advantage from the sharing of knowledge across our gymsports.

Events GA stepped up to a hefty event line up in 2010. GA delivered seven (7) National Championships in four States involving almost 3,000 athletes. GA also hosted the first Australian Gym for Life Challenge in Bendigo, whilst Melbourne hosted the 2010 Pacific Rim Championships. The Pacific Rim event was a fantastic opportunity for the Australian community to see world class gymnasts in action. This year saw the introduction of a subsidy for national judges who officiated at national championship events. This subsidy is an acknowledgement of the time and commitment made by our volunteer judges. GA thanks all the volunteers, coaches and judges who together make gymnastics events possible for our gymnasts.

Finances Alongside the delivery of a very full operational plan, GA worked hard to maintain diligence and discipline in relation to financial aspects of organisational performance. Throughout the year and with a new CEO on board, reviews of GA’s financial operations have been undertaken. A budgeted deficit of $56,000 was expected for 2010 however a strong performance in this area has seen GA finish the year with a modest $50,000 surplus. This is a pleasing result as 2010 would have been the fourth consecutive year of budget deficit. Over the years ahead GA will seek to maintain solid reserves, an accepted best practice business strategy which provides a safeguard for business continuity.

Membership Currently GA has a membership of 126,700 athlete members, 3,900 technical members across 700 sites Australia-wide. There has been incremental growth in membership over the years and by working together, GA is excited by the potential to further strengthen our clubs, increase our membership base and expose more Australians to the wonderful sport of gymnastics.

Acknowledgements During the year, GA said a sad farewell to long serving CEO, Jane Allen. Jane made an outstanding contribution to GA in all areas of the business. One of her most valuable contributions was the successful running of the 2005 World Championships which showcased Australian gymnastics to the World, along with our ability to produce a class gymnastics event. The Board and CEO of Gymnastics Australia wish to acknowledge and thank the staff at GA and all the people involved in delivering gymnastics – clubs, technical commissions, coaches, judges and volunteers, at local, state and national levels.

Message from the Australian Sports Commission

A challenging and exciting period for our national sporting system.

From the Hon. Warwick Smith AM It is an honour to serve as the new Chair of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Board at this challenging and exciting period for our national sporting system. The ASC and national sporting organisations (NSOs) have long spoken of a shared ambition to strengthen relationships between all system partners involved in Australian sport. Aligned with this ambition, the Australian Government is now encouraging a whole-of-sport reform agenda, aimed at establishing a more collaborative, efficient and integrated sports system. Through new direction for sport ‘Australian Sport: the Pathway to Success’, the ASC will work closely with sport to achieve its main objectives; boost sports participation and strengthen sporting pathways while striving for international success. The reform agenda seeks for the ASC to assist to provide stability and support for all sporting organisations in their pursuit of a shared, common

purpose; creating a better sporting pathway for all Australians, from the grassroots up. The ASC will implement the new direction, and this includes collaboration with all NSOs to allocate a record amount of new sports funding – committing an extra $195 million over the next four years. This funding is in addition to the current ongoing baseline funding for NSOs. Also, the ASC will assist sporting organisations with access to coaching and officiating programs, governance support, planning and education opportunities and assistance with becoming more inclusive – particularly in the areas of Indigenous sport, sport for people with a disability, sport for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and women’s sport development programs.

GA is excited about the future and looks forward to embracing the opportunities, challenges and changes that lie ahead in 2011

Karen Norden – Business Manager 2010 was a challenging, but rewarding, year. The National Office staff farewelled long standing CEO Jane Allen, delivered an international event in the interim period without a CEO and in June welcomed new CEO, Catherine Clark. The Business Unit continued to address GA’s systems and processes on a national basis through the use of iMIS, the national database. In 2010 work continued in preparing the national database to underpin an e-commerce platform. While it was anticipated that online purchasing would be trialled in 2010, the upgrade to the National database was a little more complicated than first thought. The complexity of the sport and the different requirements for each of the gymsports has resulted in extensive customisation of the national database. This delay pushed back the launching of the online GymShop until 2011. Gymnastics Australia implemented a new initiative for members who purchased a gymsports National Levels Program manual or CD during 2010. The purchase of any gymsport National Levels resource also came with a subscription to any updates that may be released. This initiative

now provides Affiliated Clubs and Technical Members online access to any of the updated manuals throughout the cycle of the resource. More of these online initiatives will be rolled out during 2011 and 2012. The upgrade to the national database was performed in-house, utilising the expertise of GA staff and contractors. This upgrade has placed Gymnastics Australia in a terrific position and will enable the organisation to roll out a range of online initiatives.

Events In 2010 the two best female gymnasts on the planet, World all-around champion Bridget Sloan and silver medallist Rebecca Bross, headed down under for the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships. From the 28th April to 2nd May 2010, Gymnastics Australia was host to the Pacific Rim Championships a major biennial gymnastics competition open to teams from member nations of the Pacific Alliance of National Gymnastics Federations, which included the U.S.A., China, Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia.

The Championships saw four days of exciting competition, providing Melbourne sports fans with a fantastic opportunity to see the world’s best in the lead up to the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The four disciplines; Men’s & Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Trampolining were held at two different venues. The logistics of this event while at first a little daunting was ably managed by George Tatai, Chairman of the Organising Committee and Russell Smart, GA Event Manager. Once again dedicated volunteers were the backbone of this event. With the GA office on skeleton staff, volunteers and past staff rallied to ensure the 2010 Pacific Rim Championships was a well run event. Along with the International event the GA Event Team in partnership with the State Associations delivered seven National Championships, in four States across Australia, involving 2,820 competitors and 208 accredited judges. These events were co-ordinated around the July and September school holiday periods with events either running concurrently or back to back.

Western Australia hosted, during the July school holiday period, both the Women’s and Rhythmic National Championships for the second year in a row. Once again the GWA staff and volunteers partnered with GA to showcase two of our Olympic gymsports. These two events were used as the lead into the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi for our international athletes. Straight after the two events in Western Australia the Event Team headed back across the Nullarbor to run the third of our Australian Championships. In partnership with Gymnastics ACT the Men’s Australian Championships were held in the AIS Arena in Canberra, moving from Queensland where it had been held the previous year. While the Men’s, Women’s and Rhythmic Australian teams were gearing up for the Commonwealth Games, in late September the Australian Trampoline Sports Championships was soaring to new heights. Being held at the ETSA Park in Adelaide for the second time the continued support from Gymnastics SA and the Trampoline community ensured the success of this event. There was no rest for the Event Team as October saw three Australian Championships go back to back. The Australian Grand Cheerleading Championship saw an amazing 1,101 competitors (which was a 25% increase from the previous year), cheer, dance, stunt and tumble through two days of high energy competition. The excitement from the cheerleading event continued into the Sport Aerobics Australian

Championships and culminated in the Australian AEROSkools Championships. The Sport Aerobics championships also saw a healthy increase of 185 in competitor numbers. Both Australian Championships were held at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Melbourne. The final event for the year was the Australian Acrobatics Gymnastics Championships. This event was held in the Marion Leisure Centre in Adelaide. While South Australia is not known for its Acrobatic Gymnastics, taking this event to Adelaide was a perfect way to promote this incredible gymsport. The gymnastics community of South Australia embraced this event and supported once again the Event team. Successfully staging multiple National Championships in a hectic schedule could only happen with the support of the many valued volunteers and in particular the National Commission Members who are an integral part of the GA Event Team. The running of seven National Championships is truly a team effort and thanks needs to be extended to the entire GA Event Team comprising of the National Gymsports Commissions, Association Members, clubs and volunteers, Dr Don McIntosh and Dr Kathy Yu as well as the GA staff. This dedicated team of people band together to deliver these national events under the competent direction of the GA Event Manager Russell Smart, a logistic whiz.

In 2011 the GA Event Team will be looking at further enhancing the event experience for competitors and spectators, so watch this space as you may see a few new initiatives!

Closing GA is fortunate to have a team of dedicated and talented staff who continue to deliver high quality services to the members. There were a few changes in the National Office Staff throughout 2010. Hannah Snow has gone on to pursue her career in Early Childhood care and Nerine Cooper left GA to pursue her passion for Cheerleading. Nerine held many roles over the 11 years she was with GA, being instrumental in the implementation of the Club 10 program and in recent years, managed the sport of cheerleading. The team at GA thank Nerine for her commitment and energy over the years and wish her all the best in her future endeavours. GA is excited about the future and looks forward to embracing the opportunities, challenges and changes that lie ahead in 2011. As always, we will continue strive to improve the support and services to our members.

Membership Services Report

In 2011 GA expects Athlete Membership to exceed 130,000 and Technical Membership to exceed 4,000.

Geoff Rietschel – Manager of Membership Services and Capability The sport continues its’ trend of participation growth with athlete and technical membership increasing in 2010. Athlete membership at clubs rose to its’ highest levels recorded with in excess of 126,700 athletes registered in affiliated clubs throughout 2010. Gymnastics also prepared for greater recognition of the positive impact clubs are having in the sporting landscape, with the ability to better recognise casual participants and participation of marginalised communities.

Club 10 Quality Assurance Program

Technical Membership also continues to grow, with the number of individual members holding coaching, judging or dual accreditations reaching 3,900. Of these members, 1,398 capitalised on the considerable 60% discount by completing the latest online resource, Managing Inclusion in Gymnastics (MIG).

The Club 10 Program continues to be recognised by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) as a key asset for gymnastics and the envy of other sports. GA has once again been involved in the development of national sporting resources based on our expertise with the Club 10 program, this year participating in a working group to establish a Club Health Check applicable to all sports.

Once again clubs continued to grow their programs, not only by participants, but by venues, with gymnastics being delivered in over 700 sites. The net result being for every three clubs affiliated, four venues are utilised to provide gymnastics programs. In 2011 GA expects Athlete Membership to exceed 130,000 and Technical Membership to exceed 4,000.

2010 saw clubs participate in a pilot of online interaction for clubs submitting for audit and we look forward to rolling out further features in 2011 to the benefit of all clubs. GA and the State Association Members again committed to providing reward to clubs through their work in the Club 10 program, continuing the popular public liability rebate scheme.

Education Gymnastics Australia’s responsibility to govern multiple Gymsports has stretched resources but also strengthened a resolve to work smarter and streamline the business. Realistically (i.e. within resource levels), the road to a sustainable, high quality and modern education

framework lies in taking a whole-ofsport approach. Such an approach involves all parts of the organisation and all Gymsports. It is rewarding to report that the redevelopment of the judges’ accreditation framework and content [National Officiating Accreditation Scheme (NOAS)] initiated in 2009 and continued in 2010, has achieved many of the strategies outlined above for the G-Educate project. The project process is not just about the re-development of the Coaching & Officiating framework, it’s about making the best use of available resources, about engaging with members of the Gymnastics community for improved mutual benefit, improving and simplifying processes and reducing the time and effort required of volunteers to maintain the education systems. The number of judges trained and the increase of the Officiating Presenter network is exciting with a net result of 1,351 Technical Members who accessed new G-Educate accreditations as of December 2010. This effort was significant as trends were indicating a decline in the number of judges for the 2009-2012 Cycle and this has now been addressed with G-Educate.

The highlight of the G-Educate Judging course re-development was the attainment of NOAS accreditation status from the Australian Sports Commission for: Beginner, Intermediate, Intermediate Bronze, Advanced and Advanced Silver courses within the respective Gymsport platforms. Working groups were established to begin the re-development of the coaching courses [National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS)] in particular initially focusing on a new entry level course, the Orientation course and the Skill Library that will support training at all accreditation tiers for judges and coaches. This vision would not be possible without the support from the technical community and State Association Members. GA acknowledges your outstanding contribution and partnership throughout the year. Acknowledgement and thanks must be extended to Linda Pettit and the Education team for their long hours, hard work and great results throughout this project.

Pacific Rim Championships

Congratulations to all involved in the Pacific Rim Championships, it was a memorable and successfully staged event.

Message from the Chairman of the 2010 Pacific Rim Championships organising committee Dear Gymnastic Friends, On behalf of Gymnastics Australia and the Organising Committee, I wish to thank all who contributed to the successful running of this event in Melbourne in April 2010. This was a unique competition held simultaneously in 2 different venues, kilometres apart, and involved all of our Olympic disciplines. This presented the Committee with the unusual challenge of literally having to duplicate everything at each venue. Thanks to the quality of staff and volunteers, the challenge was met and both venues ran their events successfully. The Championships were attended by over 160 gymnasts from 11 Federations including the “power house” nations of China, Japan, Russia and USA. The modified team format of juniors and seniors in a combined team provided spectators with the unique opportunity to see the current and future champions at the same time. The event also doubled up as the qualification to the Youth Olympic Games for the Oceania Region, and provided our gymnasts with invaluable experience and competition in preparation for the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships later in the year.

As usual, the Championships could not have been run without the magnificent efforts of our many volunteers. I would like to especially thank these “gymnastic junkies” for the enormous amount of time they gave to this event. Many had volunteered previously for the 2005 World Championships and 2006 Commonwealth Games, and for this reason their experience ensured a smooth operation and a friendly environment for our overseas visitors. I received a number of compliments after the event, on how well the competitions ran and the friendliness and knowledge of our staff and volunteers. Without sponsors, major events just do not happen. I wish to convey my thanks to the sponsors whose contributions enabled us to run this event. Finally, thank you to the GA staff for their enormous efforts. All staff were involved in the event at some stage. Many had to deal with their daily duties as well as putting in extra time for this event, none more than Russell Smart, who due to the departure of Jane Allen had to step up and take on a greater role to ensure the success of the championships. Historical First – winning gold in the Team competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi

Daren Wolfe – National Technical Director The highlight in 2010 was undoubtedly winning the gold medal in the Team competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India; an historical first for Australian Men’s Gymnastics. The team of Josh Jefferis (QLD), Prashanth Sellathurai (NSW), Sam Offord (SA), Thomas Pichler (QLD), and Luke Wiwatowski (NSW), acquitted themselves well, winning 4 of the 6 apparatus gold medals on offer, and Josh backing up to win the bronze medal in the All Around competition. This was followed shortly thereafter by the World Championships in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Prashanth Sellathurai continued his successful campaign on Pommel Horse, winning a Bronze medal on this apparatus, making it two years in a row that he has ranked third in the world in this event at World Championships. The Australian men’s team placed 18th in the Team competition, keeping the pathway open for a possible team selection for the 2012 London Olympics. At the Australian Championships, Sam Offord retained his Senior National Champion title, while Tyson Bull (VIC) won his first Junior National Champion title. for the fifth time and Australia retained the Trans-Tasman Trophy. Based on results from Nationals, twelve of the country’s best Level 7-9 Open gymnasts were selected for the Australian Open Levels Tour to compete at the Peter Vidmar International in Los Angeles, USA in March 2011. After a one year break, National Club Championships returned to the competitive calendar; being capably hosted by Gymnastics Victoria at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre. With revised rules and a change of timing from December to September, this event attracted more than 230 competitors. Based on feedback from the NAC, the rules have been further revamped for this event for 2011 and beyond. Implementation of the strategy to discontinue a handful of AIS residential scholarships to allow better utilisation of AIS facilities as the platform for a focused camps based program for up to 20 senior and junior gymnasts, coincided with the expiry of Vladimir Vatkin’s employment contract as AIS Head Coach and National Coach. Karen Myers and John Curtin (National High Performance Managers) worked with the 3 residential scholarship holders

to assist them in making a smooth transition to their chosen training environment for 2011. These athletes are crucial to Australia’s future success on the international stage, and it is important that all 3 gymnasts were, and continue to be, supported through this process. This strategy also involved the advertising and recruitment of the National Coach position which prompted strong interest both domestically and internationally. For the first time, this role will be independent of any individual high performance centre. John Curtin was successful in being appointed National Coach, and has already hit the ground running. On behalf of GA and the Men’s Gymnastics National Commission, sincere thanks are extended to Vladimir Vatkin for the significant contribution that he has made to men’s gymnastics in Australia over the past decade, including recognition as International Coach of the Year 5 times. Vlad is wished well for the future. Thanks are extended to all of the National Commission members – Paul Szyjko, John Curtin, Rohan Kennedy, Vladimir Vatkin, and Artistic Program Manager, Megan Currie, for their contributions and support throughout the year.

Women’s Gymnastics

2010 was Lauren Mitchell’s year Commonwealth Champion, World Champion on Floor and numerous other medals at World Cup events.

Helen Colagiuri – National Technical Director The first major event for 2010 was the Pacific Rim Championships in Melbourne in April. Although Australia’s top gymnasts could not compete at this event the Australian gymnastic community took advantage of the opportunity to see many world class gymnasts. This event, the pre-Olympic Youth Cup (Germany, in May) and the Youth Olympic Games (Singapore, in August) provided excellent opportunities for a number of the Australian junior girls to gain international experience. Angela Donald achieved her first international medal placing third on Beam at the Youth Olympic Games. The Australian senior girls’ results at Commonwealth Games were outstanding - 1st placed Team, 1st, 2nd and 3rd All Around and numerous apparatus medals. This team, with the addition of two more seniors (Larrissa Miller, Georgia Simpson), then went on to the World Championships and maintained Australia’s sixth place ranking. These results are a direct outcome of the hard work of these girls, their personal coaches and the National Coach Peggy Liddick.

The Australian Championships for international and national gymnasts were held in Perth in July. The event had fantastic support from the volunteers in the Western Australian gymnastics community. The Championships were followed by an international development camp which was attended by gymnasts from programs across the country. A second international development camp was held in December at the Australian Institute of Sport. The numbers and standard of the girls attending these camps is a direct reflection of the work done by Jo Richards, National Junior Development Coordinator in the WAG international development program. Judge education was a major focus in the first half of 2010. New judges’ courses in all levels were developed as part of the new G-educate program. Although the new content and structure of the courses necessitated many hours of training for presenters and candidates, all agreed that these new courses are a huge improvement on what existed previously. All States in Australia ran courses to update judges in both

the National Levels Program and the National Development Program. Throughout the year the sport was led by the Sport Technical Commission with advice and assistance from the Elite Management Committee and the Advisory Committee. These committees must be acknowledged for the time and tireless effort they put into developing and maintaining the high standard of Australian Women’s Gymnastics.

Rhythmic Gymnastics

What an exciting year RG has had culminating with the great success at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India.

Teresa Evans – National Technical Director Much work has been done again in the areas of the Rhythmic Gymnastics National Program Resource and the Judging Courses. The National Program Resource underwent a review in August and it is hoped that this review will assist coaches and judges in understanding and applying the rule requirements in training and competition. For the many volunteers who have worked on these projects I thank them for their time and effort. In 2010 there was a major change in preparing RG athletes for the World Championships in September, Moscow, Russia and the Commonwealth Games in October, Delhi, India. The Elite Management Committee agreed for the Commonwealth Games Shadow Squad gymnasts to remain in Australia and attend a number of training camps as well as competing at state events in Sydney and Perth to gain competition experience in the lead-up to the selection trials at the RG National Championships in July. This allowed the available funding to be used in a much more productive and effective way. This initiative was well supported by the Brevet Judges who were able to assist the coaches and gymnasts by providing them with valuable performance feedback.

In July 2010, the National Championships were held in Perth. Once again this event ran smoothly thanks to the efforts of Gymnastics Australia staff and the many volunteers who worked day and night for the week. The continuation of the group competition at the National Championships was well supported by all states and it is hoped that this competition will continue to grow. Once again GA was fortunate to have gymnasts from New Zealand compete at the event and judges to help spread the judging work load. In September, for the third year, an RG Levels Tour travelled to Hamilton, New Zealand for the 2010 Gymsports New Zealand RG National Championships. Australia’s gymnasts performed very well with the majority of them winning a medal to highlight their competition success. Many thanks go to Jo Edinger who took on the role of Team Manager again and to the team coaches for preparing the athletes for competition and caring for them while on tour. One of the biggest competitions for the year was the 2010 FIG World Championships held in Moscow, Russia. A very strong team consisting of Naazmi Johnston (NSW), Janine Murray (WA), Danielle

Prince (QLD) and Enid Sung (NSW) improved Australia’s team ranking to 19th position. Naazmi continued to excel achieving Australia’s best ever result in the All Around competition placing 30th, which is a testament to Naazmi’s hard work and experience. For the first time in many years an Australian group competed at the World Championships. The opportunity to test their skills and learn from others provided them with valuable international competition experience. It is hoped that coaches continue to focus on the group division to place Australia in a good position for the future. The culmination of four years’ hard work by RG athletes was realised in New Delhi at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Naazmi Johnston, Janine Murray and Danielle Prince made Australia proud for their outstanding 1st place in the Team Competition. More success was achieved by Naazmi Johnston in winning the All Around Competition and 3 more medals in the Apparatus Finals. Special thanks go the coaches who prepared the girls for competition – Danielle Le Ray, Krasi Yurukova and Edith Peluso. Their efforts helped make the 2010 Commonwealth Games a memorable experience for all involved in RG across Australia.

Trampoline Sports

2010 has been the busiest international events schedule for many years.

Mike Kelso – National Technical Director 2010 was a year packed with selection competitions for what has been the busiest international events schedule for many years with the trampoline community electing to send teams and individuals to the Pacific Rim Championships in Melbourne in April, Indo-Pacific Championships in Japan in June, World Age Group Games and World Open Championships in Metz France and Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August. Providing officials for these events proved to be a challenging task and thanks are extended to all coaches, judges and team management who volunteered their time and energy to ensure that the tours went ahead and gymnasts had the opportunity to represent their country at international level. The first major international event on the trampoline calendar for 2010 was the Pacific Rim Championships. Hosted by Gymnastics Australia in Melbourne, this event saw New Zealand and Australian athletes competing against each other for the right to represent Oceania region in the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August. With strong representation from Canada, China, Russia, New Zealand and host country Australia, there were some exceptional performances. In team events, the Men’s trampoline team of Ben Wilden, Blake Gaudry, Patrick Cooper and Riley Glazebrook won silver medals behind the topplaced Chinese team, leaving Russia and Canada in the minor places.

Ben Wilden finished the preliminary round of the Senior Men’s Trampoline sharing the top position with Chinese athlete Zan Jie. Blake Gaudry was placed in fourth position. However, neither athlete was able to capitalise on this great start and finished in sixth and seventh places respectively. The competition was won by 2008 Olympic silver medallist Jason Burnett from Canada. In the Senior Women’s trampoline competition, Aslin Styles achieved sixth position, while Australia won a silver medal and 3 bronze medals in synchronized events. This was Australia’s best showing in the history of its participation in the Pacific Rim Championships. Special thanks must go to all who volunteered their services at this event, particularly Chuck Smith who is the Pacific Alliance of National Gymnastic Federations (PANGF) Trampoline Technical Coordinator and a driving force behind GA’s continued support of this event. The final trials for the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in August were held in Brisbane at the State Age and Open Championships on the 12th and 13th June. Contesting the two trial events were Madeleine Johnson (VIC), Natalie Skinner (SA), Eva Kierath (WA), Riley Glazebrook (QLD), Matthew Weal (NSW) and Patrick Cooper (QLD). Patrick Cooper and Madeleine Johnson were the highest scoring

athletes from the two trial events and were recommended to the AOC for selection in the Youth Olympic Games team. At this inaugural event in Singapore, Patrick finished in tenth place after failing to complete his second voluntary routine. Madeleine competed well entering the final in seventh place and improving her position to finish in sixth place overall.

An Australian team contested the Indo-Pacific Championships in Kakegawa, Japan from 29th June – 3rd July 2010. Australian athletes performed exceptionally well to win 4 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals in Open events, while the Age competitors managed 6 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals. Damian Ryan announced his retirement from competition at the Indo-Pacific Championships. Damian has had a long and successful career as an athlete, coach and team official at State, National and International level and will continue to serve the sport through his role as a member of the GA Athletes’ Commission, coach and as an international judge. A much reduced team competed at the World Open Championships and World Age Group Games in Metz, France in November. Jack Penny (TAS) performed strongly in the Men’s Open DMT to qualify in second place for the finals. Jack finished the competition in fifth place, arguably the best performance by an Australian competitor at the 2011 World Championships.

overall entries athlete performances reflected the standard expected at a National event. Refinements made to the previous year’s program, combined with a skilled and generous volunteer workforce, resulted in an event that ran smoothly and according to schedule.

On a domestic level, National Clubs Championships were held in Hobart on the 31 July and 1 August. These were attended by 25 clubs, which was a great attendance given the distance many were required to travel. Tumbling was wellrepresented with athletes contesting short-track events in both levels and age divisions.

As a move to foster the junior athletes, Jarrod Heriot (Cheltenham) was appointed as Junior Coaching Development Coordinator by the Trampoline Sports Commission in early 2010. Jarrod assisted National Coach, Nikolay Zhuravlev at the 2009 World Championship, was Head Trampoline Coach for the World Age Group Competition and a very popular appointment within the trampoline community. In what is hoped will become an annual event, Jarrod organised

ETSA Park Adelaide was once again the venue for the National Championships in late September. While this event attracted fewer

and hosted a highly successful junior development clinic for Junior National Squad members in early December. Towards the end of the 2010 year, appointments to the Trampoline Commission were renewed. For 2011-2012, the Commission will consist of Technical Director – Mike Kelso, National Judging Coordinator – Darren Gillis, Commission Members – Belinda Cox and Ben Kelly and National Coach – Nikolay Zhuravlev. Trampoline and the Commission have been well-served in 2010 by the Sports Program Administrator, Rachel Millar and by the staff at Gymnastics Australia, without whose efforts the results in 2010 may not have been what they were.

Sport Aerobics

The pathway for athletes to progress from levels through to the international stream is producing wonderful athletes.

Karon Williams – National Technical Director 2010 was a busy and rewarding year for Sport Aerobics. National and Development Squad athletes competed at international events including the FIG World Championships in June, Rodez, France, FIG World Series events in May in Conversano, Italy, ANAC International Aerobic Championships in July, Las Vegas, USA, Suzuki World Cup in April Tokyo Japan and the Gymsports New Zealand National Championships in September. The highlight of the year was Kieran Gorman achieving the number 1 ranking in the world based on his 2010 FIG achievements. Kieran is an outstanding athlete who typifies an elite world class athlete focused on achieving his international goals. In July Chelsea Carroll retained her Age Group 2 Individual Female title at the 2010 ANAC International Aerobic Championships in Las Vegas. Another notable achievement was Cairo Leicester winning the silver medal in the Age Group 1 division at the ANAC Championships. wonderful athletes. This was evident by the success of the development squad athletes at the New Zealand National Championships in September. The Sport Aerobics AEROSkools participation program continues to attract school students into the sport by providing them with the opportunity to get involved in a fun and friendly program and the opportunity to test their aerobic performances at a state championship, and then pending qualification, to progress to compete at the national championships. In 2010, 457 students from 42 schools participated in the AEROSkools National Championships. This represented a 20% increase in the number of entries compared to 2009 figures. In October the Sport Aerobics National Championships were held at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Melbourne. An exciting 2 days and nights of competition provided spectators with the chance to view 573 athletes compete to win a national championship title. Trudi Nurse (WA) is a recognised FIG Expert Presenter for the FIG Coaching Academy Courses. Trudi traveled to Tampere, Finland in

August to present the Level 1 course. She is a sought after workshop and course presenter. Her athletes’ international achievements reflect her coaching knowledge and her ability to get the best out of them on the training and competition floor. GA is very fortunate that she lives in Australia.

In November a very successful Sport Aerobics Advisory Committee meeting was held at the Gymnastics Australia office. State representatives worked with the National Commission to develop and update the rules, technical regulations and planning for the sport in 2011 and beyond. Special thanks go to National Commission members – Liz Lyons, Carolyn Warren and Kerryn Cormick for their time and tireless effort they put into the sport. Thanks also to the Gymnastics Australia staff for their guidance and support throughout 2010 and to the many volunteers who help make events happen.

Gymnastics for All

Worldwide, the philosophy for Gymnastics for All is Fun, Fitness, Fundamentals and Friendship.

Petrina Hutchinson – GFA Program Manager Worldwide, the philosophy for Gymnastics for All is: Fun; Fitness; Fundamentals and Friendship. While thousands of gymnasts across Australia are experiencing the philosophy first-hand in their gymnastic classes each week, the 4Fs, as they are known, were well and truly evident in the performance events held in the first half of 2010. For the third year in a row, Gymnastics South Australia staged their Cirque de Gymnastique in conjunction with the Adelaide Fringe Festival in March. Performance teams from three states, SA, VIC and QLD joined together to make this another wonderful promotion for all forms of gymnastics in the entertainment arena. High quality display teams from Victoria and South Australia were honoured to create the Opening Ceremony for the 2010 Pacific Rim Championships, in April at the Victorian State Netball and Hockey Centre in front of an international audience. Performances were varied with a range of gymsports and ages represented. The first Australian Gym for Life Challenge was held in Bendigo, Victoria in June, with teams

attending from Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and South Australia. The event was modelled on the FIG event of the same name and teams were involved in a weekend of excellent gymnastic experiences. The event included an Opening Ceremony which featured the local gym club, schools and dance groups. Teams attracted enraptured attention and impressed shoppers during outdoor performances in the Bendigo Mall. From there, the contest began with all teams performing for a panel of experts and receiving feedback on their performances. Teams were awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze after this initial performance.

The second half of the year focussed on preparing the 130-strong team which will represent Australia at the 2011 World Gymnaestrada in Lausanne, Switzerland. Teams gained sanction at State events and completed registration.

In the evening, a social was held for all participants and supporters. The final day saw two fun and challenging workshops: dance and gymnastic wheel, before the Gym for Life Gala. All teams performed again and a Champion Team was decided upon. The first Australian Gym for Life Challenge Champion Team title was awarded to Caringbah YMCA’s all male team from NSW. Congratulations to the team and their coach, Ben Cork on a fantastic performance.

Cheerleading

AUS Cheer ran 27 events across Australia as part of the Nation’s Cup Series and a lot of fun was had by all.

Kelly Marshall – Cheerleading Program Manager AUS Cheer got off to a fantastic start this year utilising the momentum gained in 2009. The Annual National Touring Camp was held across Australia with teams from all across our country benefiting from the knowledge and experience of our USA JAM Camps instructors. The skills that were learnt added great value to the team’s routines for the competition season to follow. The Cheerleading and Dance Worlds were held in April in Orlando, Florida. Air Born Cheerleading and KLD X-treme entered using their bids gained at AUS Cheer Nationals 2009 and competed extremely well with Air Born placing 8th at the ICU Worlds and 12th in the ISAF Worlds in Pom and making Finals for Hip Hop. KLD X-treme All Stars Level 5 Junior All Girl placed 7th at the IASF Worlds. The IASF also awards the top 5 countries in the IASF Nations Cup Championships. Congratulations to the KLD X-Treme Superstars for ranking 3rd, behind USA and Canada!!! Well done girls you did Australia proud! The National Championships is also the stage for allocating bids for the 2011 Cheer & Dance Worlds. Congratulations to the following winners:

The AUS Cheer Australian Grand Championships was a big success with approximately 1200 athletes travelling to Melbourne to compete. On day two GA announced the winners of the Nations Cup. Congratulations to MLC All Stars, Level 3 Senior Team (VIC) for Cheer with 5280.00 points and Tea Tree Gully Gymsports, Gold Fever Open Pom Team (SA) for Dance with 2980.00 points. Both teams worked hard all year to collect their points, competing at numerous AUS Cheer events and placing well at these events.

Our Australian Grand Champs Guest Judge was Kelvin Lam from Red Pill Cheerleading. Kelvin also conducted Cheer workshops with teams after the event. Having won a National Title with the University of Hawaii in Partner Stunt previously, Kelvin shared his knowledge in this area with a lot of budding young partner stunting athletes. It was an extremely popular workshop and will no doubt help coaches and athletes in future competitions.

> Star-Mites Gymsports (Cheer only) > Air Born Cheerleading (Pom and Hip Hop) > Vision Dance Studios (Jazz) GA would like to make a special acknowledgement to Nerine Cooper who has spent a number of years developing the sport of Cheerleading in Australia. Nerine has been a passionate advocate for Cheerleading and there have been many occasions where she has gone above and beyond in order to make sure that athletes, clubs, coaches and spectators are satisfied and happy. AUS Cheer has enjoyed a great year which could not have happened without the ongoing support and dedication of the AUS Cheer Commission, State Staff and SMC’s, volunteers and all supporters of Cheer in Australia. Thank you for making 2010 a success. Your ongoing support and input is essential as we review progress to date and map out a pathway to a strong and sustainable future for Cheerleading in Australia.

Acrobatic Gymnastics

The national ACR standard has lifted once again with many outstanding performances shining through.

Andrew Saba – National Technical Director In early 2010 the National Acrobatic Gymnastics Commission (NACRC) welcomed Yuriy Stepchenkov (QLD) as the new Judging Coordinator and Amy Yeomans (NSW) as the general member. The commission, now complete, has worked throughout the year to support many aspects in the ongoing development and direction of Acrobatic Gymnastics (ACR). Continued advancement of judge education was strengthened with further development within the new G-educate structure. This project represented a big change for ACR however the community has benefited from the new judging courses being presented across the country. ACR now looks forward to re-developing the coach education program within the new G-educate structure to be strategically rolled out over the next few years. The 2010 Pacific Rim Championships hosted by GA was to have ACR as a demonstration sport and in turn, provide a massive promotional event for the gymsport to all Australians; however this was not to be. Limited numbers in the definitive entries resulted in the unfortunate withdrawal of ACR from this competition. This was a major blow

to the community, as preparations had begun to compete Australian athletes against some of the world’s best elite pairs and groups and to promote our sport to the masses. The community is hopeful that this kind of opportunity arises again in the very near future and when it does, ACR will be ready, willing and able to fulfill all expectations. The International stream athletes turned their focus solely to preparation for the ACR World Championships and World Age Group Competitions. A precompetition training camp was arranged for these athletes in NSW in the lead up to the event and was kindly hosted by Gosford Gymnastics Club. The camp was fortunate to secure Tonya Case (FIG ACR Technical Committee President) as a presenter and lead advisor for artistic preparation and presentation. This proved to be invaluable for the team during their final competition preparation before departing to Wroclaw, Poland in July. The National Team faired very well at both of the above competitions, with strong performances across the board. The two Senior Women’s Groups in the World Championships achieved 12th & 16th placings.

In the World Age Group Competition Australia had representation in Mixed Pairs, Women’s Groups and Women’s Pairs in the 12-19yrs category and Women’s Pairs and Women’s Groups in the 11-16yrs category. The strongest result at this competition was an 8th placing in the finals from one of the 11-16yrs Women’s Groups. It should be noted that the team represented Australia admirably!

The 2010 ACR Australian Championships were held in South Australia at the Marion Centre, Adelaide. SA does not currently have any competitive ACR programs, therefore promotion of the gymsport was paramount to the state and what better way of introducing it to the SA community than a spectacular display of acrobatics at a National competition. The event was extremely well attended, with at times standing room only. On the final day, the SA political leader of the opposition party was witness to spectacular exercises from the athletes. The national ACR standard has lifted once again with many outstanding performances shining through.

Principal activities The company’s principal activities were to promote and develop gymnastics from grassroots to the elite level.

Result The operating surplus for the year ended 31 December 2010 was $50,118 (2009 loss $30,880). No income tax was payable.

Dividends In accordance with its constitution, the company is precluded from making any dividend distributions to its members.

Changes in the state of affairs There have been no significant changes in the state of affairs of the company during the financial year ended 31 December 2010.

Future developments The company does not anticipate any significant change in the operations and activities of the company during the 2011 financial year.

Subsequent events

Non audit services

No matters or circ*mstances have arisen since the end of the financial year which have significantly affected or may significantly affect the operations of the company, the results of those operations or the state of affairs of the company in financial periods subsequent to the financial year ended 31 December 2010.

The board of directors is satisfied that the provision of non-audit services during the period is compatible with the general standard of independence for auditors imposed by the corporations act 2001. The directors are satisfied that the services disclosed below did not compromise the external auditor’s independence for the following reasons:

Environmental issues The company’s operations are not believed to be regulated by any significant environmental regulations under a law of the commonwealth or of a state or territory.

Proceedings on behalf of company No person has applied to the Court under Section 237 of the Corporations Act for leave to bring proceedings on behalf of the company or intervene in any proceedings to which the company is a party for the purpose of taking responsibility on behalf of the company for all or any part of those proceedings. The company was not a party to any such proceedings during the period.

All non-audit services are reviewed and approved prior to commencement to ensure they do not adversely affect the integrity and objectivity of the auditor; and The nature of the services provided do not compromise the general principles relating to auditor independence as set out in APES110: Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants set by the Accounting Professional and Ethical Statistics Board. No fees for non-audit services were paid/ payable to the external auditors during the year ended 31 December 2010.

Indemnification of officers and auditors During the financial year, the company paid premiums in respect of a contract insuring the Directors of the company against liabilities incurred as a director to the extent permitted by the Corporations Act. 1. Summary Of Accounting Policies The financial report is a special purpose financial report prepared to satisfy the financial preparation requirements of the Corporations Act 2001. The Directors have determined that the company is not a reporting entity. Gymnastics Australia Ltd is a company limited by guarantee, incorporated and domiciled in Australia. Basis of Preparation The report has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Corporations Act 2001, and the following applicable Australian Accounting Standards and Accounting Interpretations: AASB 108: AASB 110: AASB 1031: AASB 1048:

Accounting Policies, Changes in Accounting Estimates and Errors; Events after the Balance Sheet Date; Materiality; Interpretation and Applicable Standards

No other Accounting Standards, Accounting Interpretations or other authoritative pronouncements of the Australian Accounting Standards Board have been applied. Reporting Basis and Conventions The financial report has been prepared on an accruals basis and is based on historical costs modified by the revaluation of selected non-current assets, and financial assets and financial liabilities for which the fair value basis of accounting has been applied. Accounting policies are selected and applied in a manner which ensures that the resultant financial information satisfies the concepts of relevance and reliability, thereby ensuring that the substance of the underlying transactions and other events is reported. The following is a summary of the material policies adopted by the company in the preparation of the financial report. The accounting policies have been consistently applied, unless otherwise stated. a) Taxation The company is believed to be exempt from income tax. b) Plant and Equipment Each class of plant and equipment is carried at cost or fair value less, where applicable, any accumulated depreciation and impairment losses. Gains and losses on disposals are determined by comparing proceeds with the carrying amount. These gains and losses are included in the income statement.

c) Land and Building The land and building has been included in the accounts at cost less accumulated depreciation in regard to the building. d) Short Term Investments These investments are variable rate preference shares listed on the Australian Securities Exchange the market value of which was $219,140 at 31st December 2010 (2009 $217,147). The investments are reported at cost ($234,500) e) Cash and Cash Equivalents Cash and cash equivalents include cash on hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short term highly liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less and bank overdrafts. f) Revenue Revenue from services and sale of merchandise rendered is recognised upon the delivery of service to customers. Interest revenue is recognised on a proportional basis taking into account the interest rates applicable to the financial assets. Sponsorship and government grant monies received during the financial period that will be expended in the subsequent financial year are shown as current liabilities on the basis that these funds would be refundable if not expended as prescribed. g) Goods and Services Tax (GST) Revenues, expenses and assets are recognised net of the amount of GST. Receivables and payables in the balance sheet are shown inclusive of GST. Cash flows are presented in the cash flow statement on a net of GST basis. h) Employee Entitlements Provision is made in respect of the company’s liability for annual leave and long service leave at balance date. Long service leave is accrued in respect of all employees with more than 7 years service with the company which it is believed approximates the provisions of all Australian Accounting Pronouncements. Contributions are made by the company to an employee superannuation fund and are charged as expenses when incurred. The company has no legal obligation to provide benefits to employees on retirement. i) Critical Accounting Estimates The directors evaluate estimates and judgements incorporated into the financial report based on historical knowledge and best available current information. Estimates assume a reasonable expectation of future events and are based on current trends and economic data. j) Club Development Fund A cash management account has been created on formation of the Club Development Fund. These funds have been set aside to fund the annual Club 10 Development Grant Scheme.

k) Financial assets at fair value through profit and loss A financial asset is classified in this category if acquired principally for the purpose of settling in the short term or if so designated by management and within the requirements of AASB 139: Recognition and Measurement of Financial Instruments. l) Loans and receivables Loans and receivables are non-derivative financial assets with fixed or determinable payments that are not quoted in an active market and are stated at amortised cost using the effective interest rate method. m) Held to maturity investments These investments have fixed maturities, and it is the company’s intention to hold these investments to maturity. Any held to maturity investments held by the company are stated at amortised cost using the effective interest rate method. n) Available for sale financial assets Available for sale financial assets include any financial assets not included in the above categories. Available for sale financial assets are reflected at fair value. Unrealised gains and losses arising from changes in fair value are taken directly to equity. o) Financial liabilities Non derivative financial liabilities are recognised at amortised cost, comprising original debt less principal payments and amortisation. Derivative instruments are measured at fair value. Gains and losses arising from changes in fair value are taken to the income statement unless they are designated as hedges. p) Fair Value Fair value is determined based on current bid prices for all quoted investments. Valuation techniques are applied to determine the fair value for all unlisted securities, including recent arm’s length transactions, reference to similar instruments and option pricing models. q) Impairment At each reporting date, the company assesses whether there is objective evidence that a financial instrument has been impaired. In the case of available for sale financial instruments, a prolonged decline in the value of the instrument is considered to determine whether impairment has arisen. Impairment losses are recognised in the income statement. r) Financial assets at fair value through profit and loss A financial asset is classified in this category if acquired principally for the purpose of settling in the short term or if so designated by management and within the requirements of AASB 139: Recognition and Measurement of Financial Instruments. Derivatives are also categorised as held for trading unless they are designated as hedges. Realised and unrealised gains and losses arising from changes in the fair value of these assets are included in the income statement in the period in which they arise.

AASB 101: Presentation of Financial Statements In September 2007, the Australian Accounting Standards Board revised AASB 101, and as a result there have been changes to the presentation and disclosure of certain information with the financial statements. Below is an overview of the key changes and the impact of the company’s financial statements. Disclosure impact Terminology changes – The revised version of AASB 101 contains a number of terminology changes, including the amendment of the names of the primary financial statements. These changes are not expected to impact the financial performance or financial position of the company. Adoption of new and revised accounting standards Reporting changes in equity – The revised AASB 101 requires all changes in equity arising from transaction with owners in their capacity as owners to be presented separately from non-owner changes in equity. Owner changes in equity are to be presented in the statement of changes in equity, with non-owner changes in equity presented in the statement of comprehensive income. The previous version of AASB 101 required that owner changes in equity be presented in the income statement. Statement of comprehensive income – The revised AASB 101 requires all income and expenses to be presented in either one statement – the statement of comprehensive income, or two statements – a separate income statement and a statement of comprehensive income. The previous version of AASB 101 required only the presentation of a single income statement. The company’s financial statements now contain a statement of comprehensive income. Other comprehensive income – The revised version of AASB 101 introduces the concept of ‘other comprehensive income’ which comprises of income and expense that are not recognised in profit and loss as required by other Australian Accounting Standards. Items of other comprehensive income are to be disclosure in the statement of comprehensive income. The previous version of AASB 101 did not contain an equivalent concept. New Accounting Standards for Application in Future Periods The AASB has issued new and amended Accounting Standards and Interpretations that have mandatory application dates for future reporting periods and which the company has decided not to early adopt. A discussion of those future requirements and their impact on the company is as follows: AASB 9: Financial Instruments and AASB 2009-11: Amendments to Australian Accounting Standards arising from AASB 9 [AASB 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 101, 102, 108, 112, 118, 121, 127, 128, 131, 132, 136, 139, 1023 & 1038 and Interpretations 10 & 12] (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2013). These Standards are applicable retrospectively and amend the classification and measurement of financial assets. The company has not yet determined any potential impact on the financial statements.

1. S ummary Of Accounting Policies continued

The changes made to accounting requirements include: > simplifying the classifications of financial assets into those carried at amortised cost and those carried at fair value; > simplifying the requirements for embedded derivatives; > removing the tainting rules associated with held-to-maturity assets; > removing the requirements to separate and fair value embedded derivatives for financial assets carried at amortised cost; > allowing an irrevocable election on initial recognition to present gains and losses on investments in equity instruments that are not held for trading in other comprehensive income. Dividends in respect of these investments that are a return on investment can be recognised in profit and loss and there is no impairment or recycling on disposal of the instrument; and > requiring financial assets to be reclassified where there is a change in an entity’s business model as they are initially classified based on: (a) the objective of the entity’s business model for managing the financial assets; and (b) the characteristics of the contractual cash flows. > AASB124: Related Party Disclosures (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2011). This standard removes the requirement for governmentrelated entities to disclose details of all transactions with the government and other government-related entities and clarifies the definition of a ‘related party’ to remove inconsistencies and simplify the structure of the Standard. No changes are expected to materially affect the company. AASB 2009-4: Amendments to Australian Accounting Standards arising from the Annual Improvements Project [AASB 2 and AASB 138 and AASB Interpretations 9 & 16] (applicable for the annual reporting periods commencing from 1 July 2009) and AASB 2009-5: Further Amendments to Australian Accounting Standards arising from the Annual Improvements Project [AASB 5, 8, 101, 107, 117, 118, 136 & 139] (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing 1 January 2010). These Standards detail numerous non-urgent but necessary changes to Accounting Standards arising from the IASB’s annual improvements project. No changes are expected to materially affect the company. AASB 2009-8: Amendments to Australian Accounting Standards – Group Cash-settled Share-based Payment Transactions [AASB 2] (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2010). This Standard clarifies the accounting for group cash-settled share-based payment transactions in the separate or individual financial statements of the entity receiving the goods or services when the entity has no obligation to settle the sharebased payment transaction. The amendments incorporate the requirements previously included in Interpretation 8 and Interpretation 11 and as a consequence, these two Interpretations are superseded by the amendments. These amendments are not expected to impact the company.

AASB 2009-10: Amendments to Australian Accounting Standards – Classification of Rights Issues [AASB 132] (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2010). This Standard clarifies that rights, options or warrants to acquire a fixed number of an entity’s own equity instruments for a fixed amount in any currency are equity instruments if the entity offers the rights, options or warrants pro rata to all existing owners of the same class of its own non-derivative equity instruments. The amendments are not expected to impact the company. AASB 2009-12: Amendments to Australian Accounting Standards [AASBs 5, 8, 108, 110, 112, 119, 133, 137, 139, 1023 & 1031 and Interpretations 2, 4, 16, 1039 & 1052] (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2010). This Standard makes a number of editorial amendments to a range of Australian Accounting Standards and Interpretations, including amendments to reflect changes made to the text of IFRSs by the IASB. The Standard also amends AASB 8 to require entities to exercise judgement in assessing whether a government and entities known to be under the control of that government are considered a single customer for the purposes of certain operating segment disclosures. The amendments are not expected to impact the company. AASB 2009-13: Amendments to Australian Accounting Standards arising from Interpretation 19 [AASB 1] (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2010). This Standard makes amendments to AASB 1 arising from the issue of Interpretation 19. The amendments allow a first- time adopter to apply the transitional provisions in Interpretation 19. This Standard is not expected to impact the company. AASB 2009-14: Amendments to Australian Interpretation – Prepayments of a Minimum Funding Requirement [AASB Interpretation 14] (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2010). This Standard amends Interpretation 14 to address unintended consequences that can arise from the previous accounting requirements when an entity prepays future contributions into a defined benefit pension plan. AASB Interpretation 19: Extinguishing Financial Liabilities with Equity Instruments (applicable for annual reporting periods commencing on or after 1 January 2010). This Interpretation deals with how a debtor would account for the extinguishment of a liability through the issue of equity instruments. The Interpretation states that the issue of equity should be treated as the consideration paid to extinguish the liability, and the equity instruments issued should be recognised at their fair value unless fair value cannot be measured reliably, in which case they shall be measured at the fair value of the liability extinguished. The Interpretation deals with situations where either partial or full settlement of the liability has occurred. This Interpretation is not expected to impact the company.

3. Members Guarantee The company is limited by guarantee. If the company is wound up, the Constitution states that each member is required to contribute a maximum of $20 each towards meeting any outstanding obligations of the company. The total number of members at 31 December 2010 was 7. Each member has a vote at a general meeting on a show of hands.

4. Segment Information The company operates in predominantly one industry segment and in one geographic segment.

5. Dividends In accordance with its Constitution, the company is precluded from making any distributions to its members. As the company is exempt from income tax the balance of the franking account is $Nil.
